I’m always excited to find out what’s new from the L’Oreal Professionnel brand as their products are so reliably good; when they say it’s going to do something, it will, and it’ll do it beautifully, so when I received the invite to the L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Molecular launch, I had to go! I popped along to the Adam Reed salon in Covent Garden for a blowdry using the products in the range.
The L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Molecular contains four products in total: three for at home and one for an in-salon treatment. There’s a lot of impressive science behind the range, but I’m not going to embarrass myself by trying to explain it; instead I will just give a quick overview of what the range does:
It is basically a range designed to help rebuild the molecular structure of your hair, which results in stronger, healthier, more resilient hair that can put up with a lot more without becoming brittle or damaged. It deeply penetrates the hair, so it doesn’t work on a superficial level, meaning that it doesn’t rely on silicones and oils to imply hair health on the surface, instead it goes right into the structure, so pretty much any hair type can use it, even those who have fine, flyaway hair, as it doesn’t add any weight, in fact it’s quite the opposite!
The L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Molecular Shampoo is gorgeous, and, like more L’Oreal Professionnel shampoos, is a real pleasure to use. It lathers like a dream, feels kind to the hair and doesn’t add weight, nor strip the hair, it just gives it a good, deep cleanse. The L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Molecular Rinse-Off Serum is to be used in place of a conditioner, and the first use will definitely throw you off as it’s not like anything else I’ve tried! It’s a light, almost gel-like serum that you apply to the hair, and it penetrates immediately, so you don’t actually feel like you’ve applied anything at all. It’s so cool but so odd! Obviously, in the theme of the range, it makes total sense, but it still feels very strange and you have to fight the instinct to add more.
The final product is a finishing product, which is the L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Molecular Leave-in Mask, and this is something you would apply at the styling stage, which adds more hydration and feels a little bit more superficial, but I think its totally necessary as the shampoo and serum are working at the inner structure, whereas I feel like the mask does a bit of both. If you have fine hair, you don’t absolutely need the mask, but prepare yourself for some impressively plump hair; I’ve been using all three products together, but for the benefit of the review I thought I should try just the in-wash duo, and my hair was absolutely huge afterwards – you could actually market these as volumising products as they provided so much density, it was truly unreal!!
At the time of writing, the L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Molecular Rinse-Off Serum doesn’t seem to be available anywhere, which is a shame but makes sense as I feel like it’s the sort of product that could slot into any haircare routine and provide benefits.
